Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes Titan Battlegear The Safest Hockey Shirts?

Titan Battlegear combines advanced American Made cut-resistant materials with a unique collar design in our youth hockey neck guard shirt, providing unparalleled protection in critical zones like the neck and wrist.

Other Brands Use Kevlar®, Why Is This Better?

Most Kevlar® fabrics offer an ISO 13997:1999 blade cut resistance level 2, and in very rare occasions level 3 (on a scale of 1 to 5).

Titan delivers the highest cut-resistance with our youth hockey neck guard shirt, up to level A9 (ANSI scale A1-A9), which makes it 200 stronger than steel, and almost 5 times more cut resistant than Kevlar® products rated level 3 at 5N.

Are there certifications for the USA Hockey mandated laceration protection?

Unfortunately USA hockey does not have any certification requirements currently.

They state “Players are required to wear a neck laceration protector that is commercially designed and manufactured for that purpose.”

We are eager for them to enforce stricter guidelines around the level of protection to qualify as “neck laceration protectors” for the Aug 1, 2024 mandate.

In our testing of other products available in the market, we revealed a very low level of cut resistance due to materials such as Kevlar®, which only provide a level 2 or 3 cut-resistance, depending on fabric weight.

In contrast, our hockey neck guard shirt youth version achieve up to a level A9 cut-resistance, the highest level of cut protection in the world.

How Safe Is This Hockey Shirt After Many Washes?

We tested cleaning with cycles across TEN Durawash twin-tub industrial machines. This is equivalent to 50 washes in a domestic washing machine.

Impressively, the cut-resistance level of our hockey shirts with neck guard youth version increased by 4% following this rigorous washing process. Test reports from INTERTEK are available upon request.

Where Are Titan's Products Produced?

Titan was born in South Florida, and Built in the Americas. Our factories are in Winter Park, Florida, and Colombia. We source material from premium partners in the UK.

The mass market and other independent brands produce in China, with questionable labor practices and superficial cut resistance certifications.

Can I Customize Titan's Upper Armor With My Team Logo/Colors?

Yes, Titan's TeamWorks program offers custom gear for teams, as well as personalization by player, including name, number, and even their country flag to represent their nationality!

USA Hockey Requirement

Mandate in effect August 1, 2024 for all u18 players.

Titan's Battlegear provides the safest neck & wrist guard shirt in the game.

Cut-resistance exceeds level A9, the highest possible level for lab testing.

The lab test is conducted with a Tomodynamometer, or TDM, which pulls a blade in 20mm paths across the material surface under varied gram loads and measures the weight needed to cut through. The sample is cut five times with three different loads and an average is calculated, resulting in a cut score of A1-A9.

After the level A9 test, Titan's proprietary cut-resistant material was still fully intact, resulting in a level of cut protection beyond the bounds of the test.
